Committee replaces bill with TACIR study into ultra-processed foods and additives in school nutrition programs

Representative Reeves (speaker 12) told the committee that amendment 14871 replaces the original bill with a TACIR study examining prevalence of ultra-processed foods, artificial dyes and other additives in school nutrition programs.
"This amendment replaces the bill with a TACIR study focused on ultra processed foods in school nutrition programs. Under the amendment, TACIR will evaluate the prevalence of ultra processed foods or artificial dyes and other chemical additives in food and beverages served through the school nutrition program," the sponsor said. Committee members had no questions; the amendment was adopted and the bill moved to full Education on a unanimous voice vote.
