Resident warns commissioners about quarry activity near Olsen and Holston elementaries

Rodney Padgett, who gave his address as 1125 Johnson Grove in Buffalo, used his three-minute public-comment period to press the Board of County Commissioners to look into recent rezoning and quarry activity near two county schools.
Padgett said Martin Marietta operates a rock quarry “about 740 yards away from that school right now,” and that a parcel sold to the quarry could be rezoned to sit within about “250 yards of Holston Elementary's, the back of their building.” He told commissioners residents report house vibrations, cracked sidewalks and falling pictures after blasts and asked the Board to "make some phone calls for us in the community around Holston."
