City Manager John W. Coffey briefed the council on capital projects and operational items during his July 28 report.
Coffey said site work at the Algonquin Sports Complex is progressing: turf has been stretched and glued, sand placement is complete, rock fill and sewer extension work are underway, and asphalt has been placed on ball courts pending curing. He reported the city hall stormwater baffle box is largely complete and that two change orders on the YEMA project totaling about $12,000 (roughly 7% of that project) were approved. The manager also announced an expenditure of $17,000 to purchase laptop computers and materials for emergency vehicles; the cost will come from the city manager’s contingency account.
Staff noted eight qualification statements were received for continuing services for engineering and stormwater consulting; an evaluation committee will shortlist firms for interviews and return rankings for council consideration. Coffey reminded council of upcoming budget deadlines and scheduled workshops and hearings.
