Task Force hears updates on Beacon funding, 20 Security Drive, Avon Mill and 25 Avonwood Road

Hiram Peck, Avon’s Director of Planning and Community Development, told the Affordable Housing Task Force on April 10 that Beacon Communities is "confident that their funding is going to be approved" and that the project at 20 Security Drive should move forward soon. Peck said the developer for Avon Mill/Avon Gardens has asked to modify an existing approval related to a plan that would renovate existing buildings and add about 250 new units, including 50 affordable units.
Peck also reported that a separate approval for 25 Avonwood Road proposes 64 apartments with 20 designated as affordable; the developer named in the discussion was Vessel. He said the 22 Waterville Road building (former Women’s Health) failed to sell at auction and might be proposed for apartments, though no formal plan was available. An informal discussion regarding 100 Nod Road, a seven-acre parcel currently zoned Agricultural, is scheduled for the Planning and Zoning Commission’s April 22 agenda. There was no new information on Avon Village Center at the meeting.
Task Force members did not take votes on any of these projects at the April 10 meeting; Peck said Town staff is awaiting more detailed materials before referring changes to the Planning and Zoning Commission for review.
