At the Oct. 14 meeting Council member Karin Tyrer conducted the first reading of an ordinance amending Section 153 of Anchorage's Code of Ordinances. The proposed changes would eliminate the review fee, permit swing signs, revise allowed materials and styles for signs, allow banners in specified zoning districts, remove painted wood signs in CN zoning, and revise limits on real estate and political signs.
The ordinance is at first-reading stage; no final vote was recorded. Council members reviewed the text during the meeting and the item will proceed through the normal ordinance process for further consideration and potential future votes.
