Anchorage Council appoints presiding officer, adopts sign ordinance and holds executive session with no action

At its Nov. 11 regular meeting the Anchorage City Council appointed Hunter Wilson presiding officer, approved amendments to the city sign code, waived a liquor-license fee for a Dec. 6 fundraiser, heard police and school reports, and held an executive session on a zoning complaint with no action taken.
The Anchorage City Council convened Nov. 11, 2024, and appointed Councilmember Hunter Wilson as the presiding officer after a motion by Bill Wetherton and a second from Patrick McMahon; the motion passed with all in favor. The council approved the Oct. 14, 2024 minutes, heard departmental reports and conducted votes on multiple agenda items before adjourning at 7:07 p.m.
Council action included adoption of an ordinance amending Anchorage Section 153 of the Code of Ordinances (sign regulations) and a unanimous vote to waive an alcohol-license fee for the Bluegrass Center for Autism fundraiser at Owl Creek Country Club on Dec. 6, 2024. The body entered an executive session to discuss pending litigation related to a resident zoning complaint; the executive session ended with no action. City Attorney John McGarvey told the resident he would provide a written response to the complaint within the next day or so.
