Forestry Board begins hazardous-tree marking and changes Fall Street Canopy approach

Forestry Board member Jan Ruzich told the council the board has begun marking hazardous trees in rights-of-way and announced that the recycling program and Fall Tree Sale flyers will be mailed together to residents this week. Ruzich said the Fall Street Canopy campaign will change from planting along roadways to offering plantings in front, side and back yards to boost orders after recent storms reduced the local tree canopy.
Council Member Karin Tyrer asked why the campaign changed from roadway plantings; Ruzich explained previous campaigns averaged about ten orders and the change is intended to increase the number of trees planted and give residents an opportunity to replace storm-damaged trees.
