Anchorage names new SRO, receives 14 used tasers from Louisville; Flock camera siting meeting set

Police Chief Dean Hayes told the council the previous school resource officer will not be returning and that "Officer Medley will be the new SRO." Hayes also reported the department hired a new part-time dispatcher and is in the process of hiring another.
The Anchorage Police Department applied for, but did not receive, a grant to purchase new tasers. Hayes said the Louisville Metro Police Department is buying new tasers and Anchorage will receive 14 of LMPD's old tasers, including cartridges and holsters, at no cost; Anchorage will need to purchase software to operate them. Chief Hayes has scheduled a meeting on Aug. 14 to determine locations suitable for new Flock cameras. Deputy Treasurer Alison Melton confirmed the police equipment maintenance agreement expense covers a full year of maintenance for the city's Flock cameras.
