Selectmen tell Lower Bartlett Water Precinct town will reassess semiannual tax billing impact in 2027

Town Administrator Lynn Jones presented figures on tax billing and collection and explained the town's difficulty committing to a partial payment schedule for the Lower Bartlett Water Precinct (LBWP) in 2026. Jones said school payments are historically the largest drivers of cash shortfalls and that, with the 2026 tax rate still unset and this the first year of semiannual billing, it is hard to forecast exact amounts owed to the LBWP.
The Selectmen decided to send the LBWP a letter stating the town does not yet know what to expect under semiannual billing and will reassess the request in 2027 after observing cash-flow patterns this year.
