Anchorage city leaders on Aug. 12 approved a $112,300 contract with Hall Paving to repair the Old Harrods Creek Road walking path to meet Americans with Disabilities Act standards and to install 634 feet of new path on Beech Road. Council Member Karin Tyrer moved to accept the bid; Diane Cook seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
Public Works Director Gary Burkhead recommended Hall Paving over the lowest bidder because Hall Paving will perform the ADA concrete pads in-house rather than subcontracting that work. Burkhead told the council he recommended "that Council accept the $112,300 bid from Hall Paving over the lowest bidder." The contract covers both ADA upgrades to the existing Old Harrods Creek path and the new 634-foot segment on Beech Road.
Council action: the motion to accept Hall Paving's $112,300 bid was moved by Council Member Karin Tyrer, seconded by Diane Cook, and approved by unanimous vote of the five members present. The council did not attach additional conditions in the meeting record; staff will proceed with contract administration and bidding follow-up as appropriate.
