Apron milling plan will close self-serve pumps for longer than expected, board warned

Construction presenters outlined a single-mobilization approach: mill P1 and P2 to full depth, excavate and complete dirt work, then pave both areas in one mobilization. That approach reduces overall mobilization costs but means self-serve fuel will be closed for the full project rather than for half the time as previously planned.
"Last year over this same time period, self-serve generated about $30,000, $28,000 to be accurate. Or probably gonna lose that," a board member said, warning of lost revenue if pilots interpret a NOTAM to mean no fuel is available. Staff said they will provide fuel via truck service, coordinate carefully with tenants and issue clear NOTAMs and social-media notices to avoid misinterpretation.
Presenters acknowledged the chosen phasing reduced local (county) costs because the locally funded portion (in front of hangars) is 100% local while the larger project is 95% FAA-funded; savings on mobilization reduce the county's share on the locally funded piece.
