Flood-mitigation committee seeks town sign-off to engage engineer for FEMA grant scoping

Members of the Flood Mitigation Committee — Valeri and Jeff Rothen and Bill Fabrizio — briefed the Selectmen on efforts to secure FEMA funding for the Dugway Berm. The committee said a representative from Homeland Security indicated the grant application requires project-development scoping prepared by an engineer; the group has contacted Josh McAllister of HEB Engineering, who "agreed to help, but only with the Town’s approval."
Selectmen asked about the cost of HEB’s services and were told the project was not budgeted this year; Chairman Gene Chandler said the cost discussion would be part of the Town's follow-up with the engineer. The committee also asked whether the Town had received BRIC funding for the Razor Brook project and were told the Town "has not heard yet." No formal commitment to hire the engineer was made on July 22; the Selectmen said they would reach out once they had consulted with McAllister.
