Montrose council fills seats, assigns leadership and zoning posts

At the July 14 meeting the Montrose City Council appointed Nick Vogel and Alex Binder to one‑year terms for Ward 1 (Actions 26‑082 and 26‑083). The council then assigned leadership and departmental liaison roles (Action 26‑084): Alex Binder was named council president; Nick Vogel vice president; Justin Scheff was assigned oversight of utilities; Jasen Hanisch and Nick Vogel were assigned Parks & Recreation oversight; Susan Painter retained finance oversight; and Jasen Hanisch was assigned the streets department.
The council also appointed Brian Kappenman to a five‑year term on the Montrose Planning and Zoning Committee (Action 26‑085) and appointed Cliff Hallem as Zoning Administrator for a one‑year term (Action 26‑086). All appointments and role assignments passed by unanimous roll call with no opposition, as recorded in the minutes.
