"I move to convene in executive session to discuss employment recommendations and end district transfers," said Miss Williams, who moved the motion. The chair confirmed the motion was seconded and the board proceeded to vote by a mix of on-screen roll call and verbal affirmation. The chair announced, "We have 6 yeses and 1 not present," and noted Miss Washington was absent. The board then recessed to executive session.
Board members discussed the logistics of moving into a private Zoom room before the vote; several members who did not see the online roll call gave verbal affirmative votes when asked. After the executive session the board returned to public session and continued with remaining agenda items.
