Resident presses Montrose to start annual maintenance for Kluckholm Street drainage ditch

At the July 14 meeting a resident identified in the minutes as Hirschmann raised concerns about weed and debris overgrowth in the drainage ditch on East Kluckholm Street and said the area has a history of flooding into town.
Hirschmann asked the council to create an annual maintenance plan. The minutes record that SECOG indicated the drainage ditch is the city's responsibility past the existing concrete waterway. Council members agreed to begin an annual maintenance plan intended to help mitigate future flooding.
The resident also raised a separate issue that landscaping bricks at 300 S 1st Ave are frequently struck by semi‑truck trailers; council members noted that the corner landscaping is private property and that any damage claims would need to be resolved between the property owner and the drivers.
