Jose Alvarez and Oliver Ojiaco updated the commission on the comprehensive plan appendices and submittal status. Alvarez said the county submitted the full package to the Washington Department of Commerce on Friday the 24th, starting the 60‑day review window that pauses final county action. Staff said hearing materials will be posted by Aug. 5 to meet the 15‑day notice requirement and that the first hearing date is scheduled for Aug. 20, with deliberation and backup dates in early September and October if needed.
Deputy Prosecutor Dave Balous said a motion was filed to extend an external deadline and no oral argument has yet been scheduled. Staff and commissioners discussed the Department of Commerce and Regional Transportation Council review processes and the commission asked staff to bring forward clearer lists of policy changes and exhibits for the hearing packet.
