County to lower parking minimums for multifamily under new state rules

Decker summarized the slide examples: "a new minimum of 1 space per unit for single family homes, 0.5 a space per unit for multifamily homes, but, no minimum at all for units under 1,200 square feet." Commissioners sought clarity about the phrase "maximum minimums," and Decker reiterated the county could adopt a lower minimum but not a higher one than the state cap. Commissioners and staff agreed the presentation should be accompanied by examples of how the caps would affect typical proposed projects.
