Board delays entrance-road construction until next July to avoid airline changeover

Airport Director Steve told the board he has decided to postpone the main entrance road project until July of next year to avoid undertaking major road work during the airline changeover and peak operations.
"I just made a unilateral decision that we're gonna wait and do this in July of next year, rather than do that while we're doing a a changeover of an airline," Steve said, explaining the intent to finish engineering now, bid the project in January and schedule construction for a June22July timeframe when operations are less busy.
Presenters described a three-phase construction plan: phase 1 (about 25 days) will close daily parking in front of the terminal and provide alternate access so Skydive and general aviation activities can continue; phase 2 (about 10 days) will impact the rental-car area and require temporary pedestrian routing; phase 3 (about 10 days) will create a temporary detour road at the entrance. The board and staff said they will coordinate signage and emergency access and aim to phase work to minimize disruption.
