Summer camp operators tell board new rental rules threaten affordability

He and other Sports Time representatives said the district moved to an hourly-rate system in 2018 after adopting a Facilitron leasing platform, removed prior daily/weekly caps, and began charging for utilities and custodial support in ways that dramatically increased costs for multiweek summer programs.
Multiple speakers asked the board to restore daily and weekly caps or provide discounted rates and urged the district to consider operational flexibility for long-term partners. Superintendent staff said an appeal has been filed and that fees have not increased since 2024; the district said it will review the concerns during the appeal process. No immediate policy change was adopted at the meeting.
