Resident asks Council for stop sign at 200 South and Hillside over speed, visibility concerns

At the public-comment portion of the meeting, resident Sharon Allred requested installation of an additional stop sign at the intersection of 200 South and Hillside, citing excessive vehicle speeds, limited visibility and several near-miss incidents involving children in the area. She suggested either a stop sign or a speed bump but acknowledged that speed bumps pose winter maintenance challenges.
The mayor said the Council had previously approved a stop sign at Mountain Ridge Road and agreed the intersection Sharon described appears to present a legitimate safety concern. Council members agreed to consult with the Road Department and the Planning & Zoning mapping project (which is clarifying rights-of-way) before bringing a formal recommendation back to the Council.
