The Direct Care Workforce Strategy Center closed its inaugural web-based workshop series with a session focused on designing evaluation plans for direct care workforce investments. Kyzia, the workshop moderator, told participants the goal was to “turn your efforts plus the data that you have or collect into evidence” that states can use to make and sustain improvements.
The session explained why evaluation matters — to track implementation, assess progress, identify barriers and document impact — and walked attendees through four practical steps: engage partners, create a logic model, craft evaluation questions and develop a measurement framework. “So first of all, we need to evaluate in order to track implementation,” Kyzia said, highlighting both formative and summative approaches. Presenters recommended starting with a small set of high-priority questions, mapping data sources that already exist, and prioritizing indicators that provide actionable insight. The organizers said the workshop tools will be shared as downloadable documents and an evaluation survey will follow up with participants.
