Roseville Electric wins national award; Sunset Energy Center repowering delayed to mid-September
Summary

Dan Bean, chief executive officer for Roseville Electric, told the commission the utility received the American Public Power Association's System Achievement Award for its 2025 community engagement and education initiative, which attracted more than 900 visitors.
Bean updated commissioners on the repowering of the former Roseville Power Plant No. 2—now named the Roseville Sunset Energy Center—saying much of the equipment is on site and the switchyard has been rebuilt and energized, but the team now expects to start operations in mid-September because the motor control center for balance-of-plant equipment remains delayed. "It's going to be a fabulous enhancement to that old 40 year old facility. It'll be cleaner, quieter, faster, and bigger," Bean said.
Bean also reported the utility plans to refund approximately $40,000,000 of 2017 bonds to take advantage of market conditions and smooth upcoming balloon payments; he said the refinancing will not extend the debt term but will ease near-term payments. The commission acknowledged the award and asked staff to note the recognition in the minutes and on the utility website.
