Porterville Unified board elects Velasquez president, Durbin vice president and Brown clerk for 2025–26

The Porterville Unified School District Administrative Board unanimously elected Tom Velasquez president, Lillian Durbin vice president and Jeff Brown clerk for the 2025–2026 school year at its organizational meeting on Dec. 9, 2025. Nominations were made from the floor—Milt Stowe nominated Velasquez for president, and Stowe nominated Durbin for vice president—each seconded as recorded in the minutes. The board cast unanimous votes for each officer.
Superintendent Nate Nelson opened the organizational portion of the meeting at 7:30 a.m. in the P.U.S.D. Governing Board Room and led the Pledge of Allegiance before the officer elections. The meeting minutes record that nominations were closed with no further nominees and that the results were declared by the board; all actions were recorded as unanimous among the four members present.
