Magna adopts amended countywide Hazard Mitigation Plan required for FEMA funding

Madison Warner, the Municipal Services District emergency planner assigned to Magna, presented the amended Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan and explained it is a countywide document updated every five years that helps jurisdictions qualify for FEMA mitigation funding. Warner said the plan includes updated hazard profiles, local annex material for Magna, and mitigation action tables that largely require coordination with MSD or county partners.
Warner characterized the document as a "blue sky" planning document distinct from operational response plans and said that FEMA-required language meant Magna needed to formally adopt the updated version by the end of 2026. Council Member Audrey Pierce moved to adopt Resolution R2026-13; the motion passed 5-0.
