Moved by Pete Lara Jr., seconded by Donna Berry, the Board approved “twenty-eight student expulsions be approved as follows,” specifying placements and rehabilitation results.
The expulsions: two students each from Granite Hills, Monache and Porterville high schools to be expelled for the remainder of the 2025–2026 school year and transferred to Vine Community Day School; of 22 students listed from Vine Community Day School, 14 met the terms of their rehabilitation plans and were recommended for return to mainstream or alternate placement while eight failed their plans and were recommended to remain at Vine. The motion carried with all six members present voting aye.
Board members did not provide additional public deliberation in open session about individual cases; expulsions were considered during closed session and returned for formal action in open session. The district clerk recorded the action and the Board authorized placement and administrative follow-up consistent with district policy.
