Planning Commission grants rear-yard setback waiver for 53 Awesome View Dr

The Town of Dorset Planning Commission granted a rear-yard setback waiver for 53 Awesome View Dr on March 4, 2025 to allow a small kitchen addition to be located adjacent to the existing kitchen. Owner Douglas Spencer presented the application and said some boundary trees "are deciduous and therefore provide less screening during winter months." Neighbor Michael Keen responded that the existing screening was adequate.
The waiver would reduce the side-yard setback from 30 feet to 21 feet. Commissioner Scott Thompson moved to approve the waiver; Natalie Quigley seconded and the motion carried 6-0-0. The commission recorded no objections from neighbors in the minutes and approved the application as requested.
