County approves advertising sealed bids for surplus road equipment, sets minimum bid amounts

Items discussed included a 2007 Sterling L8500 truck (used for snowplow work), a portable office/lab trailer, a 2004 John Deere 6615 tractor with side-mounted mower, and a 2016 Chevy Silverado 1500.
Severs recommended minimum bid levels recommended by the manufacturer or staff: "I feel like we should do a minimum bid of 25,000 on that," she said in reference to the Sterling truck; she also said a $10,000 minimum was adequate for the trailer and suggested $20,000 for the John Deere. The chair moved the disposition, it was seconded, and the board recorded a unanimous approval to proceed with sealed bids.
Staff will advertise the items and accept sealed bids; the board did not approve disposal of one pickup after review and instead elected to retain it pending further evaluation.
