The council approved awarding a reroof contract for the Museum of Northwest Colorado to Uptop Roofing and Exteriors LLC for roughly $92,405.
Museum Director Paul Knowles told council the museum roof is 32 years old and has developed leaks; staff issued an RFP and received three qualifying bids of roughly $189,000, $131,000 and Uptop's approximately $92,405. Knowles said the city had budgeted $125,000 for a new roof this year and staff recommended Uptop based on price, completeness of the bid and the manufacturer's 20-year warranty plus a contractor workmanship warranty.
A staff member who helped with specifications (introduced by Knowles) described the Duralast system and the combined manufacturer and contractor warranty that, he said, offered stronger long-term protection for irreplaceable museum artifacts. Councilman Tucker moved to award the bid; Councilman Looper seconded and the motion passed by voice vote.
