The council approved payroll and benefits totaling $544,745.09 for the period through July 17, 2026 and agreed payroll will be presented routinely on the consent agenda.
"Best practices...we should be have other municipalities do put that in their consent agenda since it is a large expenditure for the city every other week for payroll," Finance Director Mindy Elliott told council while presenting the financial packet. Elliott said the payroll and benefits are budgeted expenses and that future payroll reporting will appear on the consent agenda so council can review amounts without separate action.
Councilman Looper moved to approve the payroll and benefits; Councilwoman Linscomb seconded and the motion passed by voice vote. Council members asked clarifying questions about the benefits percentage and seasonal staffing; Elliott estimated benefits at roughly "35 to 40%" and noted part-time and seasonal hires increase summer totals.
No member requested further action; the council may still pull specific items from consent as desired.
