Resident alerts Selectboard to recurring beaver-dam failures on Mad Tom Road

Kevin Joyce addressed the Selectboard during public comment to inform the Town about a beaver dam situation on Mad Tom Road. He said the dam that is partly on his property failed in 2019 and again in 2023; he has spent the last two years managing the dams but will no longer do so. Joyce told the Board the water does not impact his property but he wanted to alert the Town and neighbors to the recurring problem.
Town Manager Rob Gaiotti said the Town will reach out to Skip Lisle to coordinate setting up dam baffle systems to help de-water the dam and lower the chance of a dam breach impacting Village properties. The Board did not record a formal vote on the matter at this meeting; coordination and possible mitigation steps were the immediate next actions noted.
