Development Review Board approves Mountain Bike Bristol trail network with conditions

Kevin Brown, acting as chair of the Town of Bristol Development Review Board, said the board voted unanimously to approve Mountain Bike Bristol’s conditional use application for a network of hiking and biking trails on land owned by A Johnson Company (Permit #26‑301). The motion was made by Kevin Brown and seconded by Dale Dingler; all seven DRB members present voted yes.

The approval includes a package of conditions imposed by the board: the three proposed west‑side trails must be completed within four years; trails must be built using the Best Management Practices submitted with the application; the club must post emergency policies from the Fire Department, Ambulance Service and Police Department at appropriate trail access points; the School District MOU for parking must be maintained; final flagged routes must be submitted to the Zoning Administrator before construction and as‑built maps submitted after completion; the club is responsible for enforcement of user behavior and for ongoing maintenance; only pedal or Class 1 pedal‑assist e‑bikes are permitted and all other motorized vehicles are prohibited; and the club must either provide a DEC Stormwater Program letter stating no permit is required or obtain a Stormwater Permit prior to construction where required.

The DRB placed the approval in the record during a deliberative session following the public hearing; the board recorded the conditions as part of its motion and approved the plan by unanimous vote.
