Colfax hires SCJ for Critical Areas update and approves $10,000 for comp plan revision

Building Inspector Shawn McSweeney told the council Colfax received a $20,000 grant to update Critical Areas and Growth Management requirements and asked that the city engage SCJ for professional assistance to complete the required checklist. Planning Commission members said the work ensures minimum requirements are met even if some sections do not apply directly to Colfax.
McSweeney also requested approval to spend $10,000 for SCJ to update the Comprehensive Plan concurrently so the city will have an updated, condensed plan (target ~40 pages) by 2027 to preserve grant eligibility. Hammer said funds are available in the General Fund and the city will bring a formal budget amendment to council later. Council approved Resolutions 26-05 and 26-06 by unanimous roll-call votes.
