Council approves $15,000 split to cover 4th of July parade security

The Enumclaw City Council on June 22 approved Resolution No. 1881 to authorize the mayor to execute an amendment to the provision-of-service agreement with the Enumclaw Chamber of Commerce for additional 4th of July parade security funding. Parks Director Lina Hicks presented the staff recommendation and explained how the previously authorized $15,000 would be allocated.
Hicks told the council the money would be split as follows: $8,500 to purchase barriers to line the parade route, $2,500 to cover overtime for six additional city staff to help man the parade, and $4,000 to the Chamber to hire security and event staffing. "Resolution 18 81 would authorize the use of the $15,000 that was authorized by council, in a previous meeting, to cover, $8,500 which would cover barriers, to line the parade route... and then $4,000 of that to be allocated to the chamber for hiring security and event staffing," Hicks said. The council moved, seconded, and approved the resolution on the record.
The resolution formalizes distribution of funds previously authorized by council rather than adding new expenditure authority.
