The chair explained the legislative requirement that towns adopt a code and said the state commission has limited capacity to aid municipalities; the board moved to adopt an enforcement form and agreed to post the necessary adoption history in the minutes and on the town website per statutory notice periods. One select board member said the draft form permitted investigation and enforcement steps the town should use if complaints arise; board members agreed to the approach and to modify the form later if necessary.
The board also discussed whether initial pages need signatures or initials and agreed minor edits can be made without revisiting full adoption. Staff will post the adopted form and the meeting and adoption dates in the minutes to satisfy the required record.
