Board weighs $39,000 Fitzgerald Road haul as highway budget shows $69,000 cushion

The calculation presented included approximately $26,000 for material (at roughly $13 per ton for 2,000 tons), about $3,000 for road fabric and an estimated $10,400 for trucking (based on roughly 80 loads and an estimated hour per load). A committee member summarized the plan and said the work could be accomplished before July 1 by drawing on the highway fund surplus: "So this is a project that can be done, basically, 39,000 of that 40 of the 69,000 we could try to have accomplished before our 2nd meeting in June." The board discussed available equipment, CDL driver availability and culvert resets needed before laying material.
Members also noted the highway budget figures presented earlier in the meeting: the overall highway budget was stated at $528,000 with projected remaining reserves giving the crew about $69,000 to spend between now and July 1. The board tentatively approved moving forward with planning and asked staff to track invoicing and flag spending against the specific Fitzgerald Road line so the expense is evident in next years budget discussions.
