Ophelia Steen Center seeks permit for June event; board to review fee classification

Ebony Rutherford and Cynthia Warner Lowe, representing the Ophelia Steen Center, told the board they planned a June 6 event that would be mostly inside the center with a few food trucks in the parking lot. Rutherford said the vendors would have health and food permits and described the layout as "both" inside the building and in the parking lot. Staff said they would review whether the event fits the parameters of the new permit form and, if not, whether vendors would only need temporary non-food or mobile food permits.
Staff asked for a short review period and said there was a meeting later that morning to further evaluate permit classification and potential fee waivers; the board took no action on the permit at the meeting and staff said they would follow up by phone.
