Superintendent reports grants, enrollment and construction updates; CBO thanked for 15 years

Superintendent Annette Blacklock highlighted staff contributions to recent negotiated actions and recognized staff and community efforts during the holiday season. She congratulated Felicia Martinez on receiving National Board Certification and thanked CBO Martin Rodriguez for 15 years of district service.
Assistant Superintendent Elia R. Sagasta said the district will serve as LES for the Creative Minds and Leaders of Tomorrow grant in partnership with Bakersfield College ($250,000 award). Sagasta reported that supplemental funding of about $300,000 was secured for Redwood and Richland Junior High ELOP equipment, bringing total ELOP-related awards to nearly $455,000. The Family Resource Center served 57 families and provided gifts for 150 children. Current district enrollment was reported at 2,390 students, one more than the previous week and 22 fewer than the same time last year. The CBO reported Sequoia construction is ahead of schedule and that seven bus charging stations are installed and awaiting PG&E transformer and meter hookups.
