Richland adopts workplace violence prevention plan to comply with SB 553 before July 1 deadline

Chief Business Official Martin Rodriguez presented the Richland School District Workplace Violence Prevention Plan for the 202526ndash;26 school year, explaining the plan was prepared in response to California Senate Bill 553. Rodriguez said SB 553 requires all workplaces, including educational institutions, to implement a Workplace Violence Prevention Plan by July 1, 2025 and to tailor the plan to workplace hazards. The board approved the plan by a 5to0 vote.
Rodriguez told trustees the plan will be regularly reviewed to ensure effectiveness and that district administration has completed the procedures required to prepare the WVPP. The minutes do not include the plan's detailed mitigation measures; those are expected to be included in the plan document itself.
