SLS Lead Counsel Mark Pafford provided a PowerPoint outlining the legal options under state law; after discussion the board adopted Resolution #2026-01 to formalize the district process for filling the vacancy. "Trustee Aguirre motioned to pursue a provisional appointment to fill the vacancy on the Board of Trustees," the minutes state.
The board also created a review subcommittee to vet applicants. Superintendent Annette Blacklock, Mrs. Christal Martinez, and Trustee Aguirre were designated to lead the subcommittee, which the board authorized to review applications and make recommendations to the full board.
The action was procedural and taken by motion and vote; no date for a final appointment was announced at the meeting. The minutes record all relevant motions and unanimous votes on the agenda item.
