Board approves a set of MOUs with CSEA for bus aides, LVN contracting and mechanic services

The board approved multiple memoranda of understanding (MOUs) with the California School Employees Association (CSEA) chapter 473 covering a set of operational and personnel arrangements.
HR lead negotiator Erdrich summarized the package and explained that the bus‑aide MOU creates a new job description to supervise and support students with special needs on district buses. "So for the bus aid MOU, that is a new job description that was developed with, CSEA and the negotiators, and that is for someone who'd be responsible in taking care of supervising and the safety of children with special needs," Erdrich said. Trustees also approved an MOU allowing interim contracting for a licensed vocational nurse (LVN) after the district received no LVN applicants; the agreement permits contracting while recruitment continues.
Additional MOUs approved included compensation for classified staff who performed out‑of‑class medical support before an LVN was contracted, a provisional agreement for charter‑bus contractor fees pending final contract negotiation, and ongoing mechanic services agreements to supplement the district's single mechanic for major repair work. Each MOU was moved and seconded on the consent agenda and approved during the meeting.
