Richland Board adopts unified vision and mission, calling it “The Richland Way”

The Richland Governing Board on April 22 unanimously adopted a new district vision and mission known as “The Richland Way,” a framework Superintendent Rosa A. Romero said was developed over two years by a collaborative committee of certificated staff, administration and Kern County Superintendent of Schools (KCSOS) representatives.
“Superintendent Romero reported that over the past two years, a collaborative committee-consisting of Certificated Staff, Administration, and representatives from KCSOS-has worked together to develop a unified district vision and mission, now known as The Richland Way,” Romero said in presenting the item. The board voted 5–0 to adopt the statement after a brief review of the committee’s outreach to parents, scholars, staff and community members.
Board members said the new framework will guide district priorities and continuous improvement work. Trustee Tammy Criswell moved to adopt the Richland Way; Trustee Deanna Rodriguez‑Root seconded the motion, and the measure passed without opposition. The board did not attach immediate operational changes to the adoption, but the district said the vision will inform future planning and alignment with district goals.
