Acton‑Agua Dulce Unified recognizes reclassified English learners

The Acton‑Agua Dulce Unified School District board recognized more than a dozen students who were redesignated from English learner status after meeting State Board of Education criteria. Dr. Paula Chamberlain, who presented the recognitions, described the four required criteria—including the ELPAC assessment, teacher evaluation, parent consultation and SBAC proficiency—and called students to the front for certificates and photos.
"We're here this evening to recognize our students who have been redesignated, English learners," Chamberlain said. She read lists of students from Meadowlark, Vasquez and High Desert and thanked parents and teachers for their roles in the students' progress. Superintendent Dr. Sahakian added thanks to families and staff and highlighted the district's pride in bilingual student achievement.
The recognition included short remarks from trustees and staff thanking students and families. The board paused regular business so students could be photographed with certificates and the boardroom audience offered applause.
