The Acton-Agua Dulce Unified School District board voted to adopt new Board Policy 0441 on artificial intelligence during its Oct. 23 meeting. The policy, presented on a second read, sets expectations that AI will be used to enhance learning and staff performance and that its use must be ethical and transparent.
During the presentation the policy lead said the district will provide professional development for staff in AI use and recommended transparency about AI-driven decisions affecting instruction. The motion to adopt the policy was moved, seconded and approved by roll call. Board members voiced support for staff training and safeguards to ensure AI supports instruction rather than replacing professional judgment.
The policy adoption will be implemented by the district’s policy and management subcommittee and district leadership, which the presentation said will coordinate professional development and monitoring of policy compliance. Staff did not provide a detailed timeline for rollout at the meeting; follow-up materials or implementation guidance were not included in the public presentation.
