Chairman Sean Pfeiffer raised concerns that data centers are currently permitted in some township zones and said the board generally favored prohibiting them. Planner Dave Banisch said he could provide a sample ordinance for members to review.
Attorney Kevin Van Hise cautioned that any prohibition should be supported by quantified data and stated reasons to minimize the risk of legal challenges. The Board asked Banisch to circulate sample language and relisted the item for the July meeting for further discussion.
