Committee members reported recent park maintenance—mulching, weed removal and new signage—and said sunflower plantings were in place at most parks though some had to be replanted. One member said she was stung near a park sign and asked Public Works to inspect potential hornet or bee nests.
The committee also highlighted a series of volunteer-driven events. The Chair described a community distribution hosted by Greater Faith Ministries that will include donated goods and partner resources at the senior center parking lot: "Pastor Hudson is bringing a huge Costco truck. 26 is what I heard. Pallets of free goodies," she said. Members urged broad volunteer support for back-to-school events and local drives, and recommended posting event polls to the official city website in addition to community Facebook groups.
Separately, the committee discussed a "Party in the Park" idea—members favored a movie-in-the-park format for mid-September with low-cost concessions, volunteer run activities and possible local performers—then asked staff to continue planning and cost estimates.
