Committee members discussed reestablishing a business association to connect local businesses, advertise city events and offer membership perks that encourage participation.
"Members could be local citizens who wanna $25 to be a member, come to the meetings, give suggestions, you know, and have our local businesses not only just hear for hear from our residents and hear from their patrons..." a member suggested, describing a low-cost membership model and potential introductory free memberships to recruit participants. Members also proposed a printed or web-based directory, a "business of the month" recognition and vendor discounts for city festivals to encourage participation.
The Chair said she and administration will compile a list of businesses and consider placing a directory on the city website, newsletter and behind the glass at city hall. The committee recommended outreach through the existing North College Hill Talk Facebook group plus a city poll on the official website to capture broader resident input.
