The Hammond City Board of Public Works and Safety on May 14 approved a special-event permit request from the Hammond Development Corporation to run a weekly farmers market at Dan Raven Plaza beginning May 28 and continuing through late September, and the board agreed to waive the standard permit fee for this city‑driven event.
A Hammond Development representative told the board staff and partners, including Jen Bussey, had been preparing the plaza for the market and asked that the fee be waived because the event is organized by the city. The motion to approve the permit and waive the fee carried by voice vote.
