Scott Borenstein, counsel for L2 Equities, told the board the demolition and violation items tied to an earlier notice had been resolved and said the only outstanding utility issue involved the electrical meter, which L2 was coordinating with NIPSCO. A representative for the property’s owner said the general contractor is wrapping up work and that “I'm hopeful that we could have that sign removed prior to the end of the month,” and pledged to forward an asbestos‑removal report to the environmental and building departments.
City staff said the building remains vacant and emphasized the demolition order remains in effect until formally withdrawn; staff asked that the owner return for periodic status hearings until officials are satisfied the site has been brought into compliance. The board approved a motion to set the matter for status review on June 4, 2026. No fines or new enforcement steps were imposed at the meeting.
