The Coleshrew City Council approved two four-year collective bargaining agreements after a staff summary of negotiations and recommended changes. The agreements — one for the fleet/department unit and one for the city employee unit — include the same compensation schedule: 5% for 2026–27, 5% for 2027–28, 4% for 2028–29 and 5% for 2029–30.
The contracts also set annual allowances (for example, footwear and dispatcher allowances) in the range of $400 to $600 and propose that the city match up to 4% of employee contributions to a deferred compensation plan beginning on July 1, 2026. The city attorney and department directors participated in negotiating and reviewing the agreements, and the negotiating team recommended approval.
Councilors voted separately on each agreement. The fleet bargaining agreement passed by roll call with recorded ayes from council members; the city employee unit agreement passed on the same schedule. The chair thanked staff and council members for their cooperation in finalizing the contracts.
The agreements include clarified contract language intended to remove duplicative or inconsistent provisions and to ease administration, according to the staff summary presented to council.
