The committee approved an agreement with KPC Staffing Inc., doing business as KP Companies, to provide consulting services to recruit, vet and recommend candidates for the reconstituted Hennepin Healthcare Systems Inc. corporate board. The contract term was described as Aug. 4, 2026 through Dec. 31, 2027, not to exceed $125,000 plus expenses.
The county administrator explained the context: the board removed the corporate HHS board in August 2025, and the Minnesota Legislature included a provision in this year's health-and-human-services bill requiring the county to reconstitute the corporate board and transition governance to it by Jan. 15, 2027. Commissioners asked that the recruitment process include mechanisms for public input and oversight, that candidates understand the safety-net mission of the hospital, and that bylaws be revisited to avoid repeating prior toxic culture. "It is very important that there is an objective and methodical manner by which the incoming board is reconstituted and vetted," Commissioner Fernando said.
